Slow Food Santa Cruz and the Santa Cruz Community Farmers Market have teamed up with Santa Cruz Neighbors to bring you Neighbors’ Night Out on Sunday, October 2! This event is an opportunity for neighborhoods to host a good ol’ fashioned block party. As Slow Foodies, you love a good meal, and you love to talk about food – here’s your chance to share your passion with your neighbors!
Sign up before August 31 to host a block party at http://www.santacruzneighbors.org. You can have your party any time between Noon – 8 pm on Sunday, October 2. If you live in the city of Santa Cruz, SC Neighbors will take care of the logistics – you just need to invite your neighbors!
The SC Neighbors website has more info, the application form, and a sample invite to send to your neighbors. And we’ll be peppering this page with more promo materials, games, and ideas to make your block a little Slower! Don’t forget to share your own Slow block party ideas on our Facebook page. As a thank you for bringing Slow food to your block party, Santa Cruz Farmers Market will raffle off a canvas Farmers Market bag loaded with market goodies: a Market T-shirt, fresh fruits & produce and artisanal treats – all from the market. To enter, email “I pledge to shop at the Farmer’s Market for Neighbors’ Night Out” to santacruzfarmersmarket@gmail.com. Include the name of your favorite market – Downtown, Westside, Live Oak, Scotts Valley, or Felton (so they know where you will pick up your prize!)
Deadline to enter is 5 pm, Saturday, September 24, and the winner will be announced on the Santa Cruz Farmers Market Facebook page on Monday, September 26. The Winner will be notified and will be able to pick up the prize at his/her market of choice.
