Slow Food isn’t just for eating – it’s for change!

Action Alerts

Hi greater Santa Cruz area Slow Foodies: If you are in Luis Alejo’s district or know members in his district please reach out and ask for an aye vote on AB 2561, coming to an Assembly floor vote during the week of May 25, 2014.

Slow Food CA is doing targeted outreach on AB 2561, the Neighborhood Food Act, a Slow Food California priority bill. This bill will protect the right of tenants and members of homeowners associations to grow food — it’s our urban agriculture bill.

A visit to the district office would be terrific of course, but telephone calls are what we’re most hoping for. Tell a personal story about the value of urban agriculture to your community.

Farm Bill

We’re lucky to have the Organic Farming Research Foundation (based in Santa Cruz) working hard on the Farm Bill.   They have an online survey to gather feedback from organic or transitioning farmers,  farmers interested in transitioning to organic production, and organic consumers, available here: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/VWWDMBZ.  Let them know what Slow Foodies think is important!
